Bike and Walking Track

An exciting  project in partnership with the Copper Coast Council and other community groups which has stalled due to government ownership issues. Northern Yorke Peninsula is still committed to this project and are keen to be actively involve again when the relevant issues are resolved.

The aim to establish a public use track with interperative signage between Kadina and Wallaroo, following the old train line between the two towns.

Currently plans are underway to peg out the basic track and establish a shelter at Moonta Mines

March 2012

Some activity at one of the sites on the Trail

Ah ha so that"s what is happening! - some interpretive signs

The signs give a brief history of the surrounding area

Everyone's interested in the local history - one of the first visitors

August 2012

Clearing the fencing wire along the Trail route [an old railway line].

How many trailer loads to go, don't ask!

This fence seems to go on forever! [only 8 kms to go]

August 2012

The next stage.  Pulling out of the fence posts.  A group of about 8 members worked at removing the fence posts [there were several tons of them] hard but rewarding work.

 July 2013

We knew it could be a long job.  But at least we are not "sitting there watching the wheels go round and round"  Rotary doing its bit for community development.
